VOYAGER - Univers

New work for the Australian act, and although I am not familiar with their first one, this one is an album worth listening to the last note. Despite the first, and not so good, impression, with the Maidenish riff on the first song, the band came to prove me wrong. They surely know how to combine elements, and how to create songs that are unique and interesting. Sometimes flirting with more brutal forms, sometimes with more electronic stuff, always melodic and catchy though, they manage to keep the interest of the listener high until the end. The arrangements are easy to follow, catchy enough, but also complex in a fluent way, that won't only please the fans of Progressive but even a broader audience. Melodies are a key part of this album, both driven by the excellent keyboards the guitars, without dominating the songs, something that the fans of Melodic Metal will like. The production is as clear as is should be, and adds some good extra points to the result. An album, that I admit, I was skeptic about, but my mind changed right after the first minute. Check it out.
10/10
