New STRYPER album to be released through Frontiers Records

Frontiers Records is honoured to welcome to its roster, the legendary Christian hard rockers STRYPER with the European release of the band's brand new album "Murder By Pride", on August 28th 2009.

"After years of speaking to fans and hearing comments like 'more guitars,' 'more solos' and 'more screams'", says Michael Sweet "I decided to keep those comments in mind as I wrote each song. It was important to me to try to get back to that early sound of STRYPER yet at the same time, to remain relevant today. It's certainly not an easy thing to do but as I listen to 'Murder By Pride', I think that was accomplished".

"I got the idea of the title 'Murder By Pride' from seeing pride consume dreams, goals and many times, lives" continues Sweet "We all deal with pride and it can be crippling, so I wanted to write a lyric and a theme that would be a constant reminder of that. This record has been in the works for a long, long time and I can only hope that it was worth the wait!"

"Murder By Pride" European tracklisting includes the following tracks:

01. Eclipse Of The Son
02. 4 Leaf Clover
03. Peace Of Mind
04. Alive
05. The Plan
06. Murder By Pride
07. I Believe
08. Run In You
09. Love Is Why
10. Mercy Over Blame
11. Everything
12. My Love (I’ll Always Show)
13. My Love, My Life, My Flame (Exclusive Bonus Track for Europe)

Streaming of some of the songs can be now heard on www.myspace.com/stryper

Stryper have also already confirmed some live appearances in Europe in early 2010, which will be followed by more dates which are currently being worked out. Stryper now are: Michael Sweet (vocals, guitar), Oz Fox (lead guitar), Tracy Ferrie (baass guitar) and Robert Sweet (drums).

RAM - Lightbringer

I have never understood the term True Metal, and I was rather skeptic when I read the newsletter of the band, while preparing to listen the album. But then, after the first note, everything has gone. Simply because the album kicks asses. Ram is a band that comes from Sweden, exists for about a decade, and is playing Heavy Metal, the way it is supposed to be played. Aggressive, melodic, a bit oldfashioned, with screaming vocals, great guitars, excellent arrangements and no keyboards. Right from the first minute, the songs are so catchy, and the melodies makes you bang your head along with the rhythm, and this doesn't stop until the end. There's no weak points here, nor things that could have been done better. The band is talented enough, and this is obvious from both the composition and the performance of the music. There's obvious Mercyful Fate, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden influences that have passed into their music as well, with the first and second being more clear in the way the singer performs in some songs, while the Iron Maiden one is more widespread around the album. Nevertheless, this doesn't reduce the quality of the album in any way. If you like Heavy Metal, well performed, with kick ass music, and groovy songs, then wait no more. Go get it.

GLORIOR BELLI - Meet Us At The Southern Sign

The story of this band starts in France, about four years ago, and this latest release, is their third full length so far. Although from the cover, you expect a Black Metal album, the band's talent goes far beyond that. Sure, it's Black Metal, with all the trademarks, it's dark, aggressive, evil and blasphemous, but that's not all. There's an well implemented melodic form in the whole album, that doesn't weaken the sound, but makes things even more gloomy and ominous. The rhythm of the music varies from the well known blast-beat screaming parts, to the slower and more suffocating moments, and this helps the album very much. Of course there are things that could have been done in a better way, but not enough to spoil the fun. Excellent, almost ritualistic at times, vocals, complete the songs in the best possible way. Dark and ominous, desperate or aggressive, Glorior Belli manage to create an album with diversity and enough things to intrigue the listener. You may just want to listen it as a pure Black Metal album, but then, why spoil the fun? Check them out.
