ICARUS WITCH - Songs For The Lost

This is the second album of the Pittsburgh oriented band, and I must admin, a very interesting one. The band has plenty of influences, and all of them are obvious into this record. Their main influence is Classic Metal, with excellent melodies here and there, some Sabbath and Maiden influences, but the result is unique and easy to stick with. The music is groovy, fluent, the melodies plenty and well worked, the arrangements well written and equally performed. A very good work has also been done in the vocals, not the typical high pitched ones, but more harsh, and more old fashioned in general. A cover of Def Leppard's Mirror Mirror performed by Joe Lynn Turner and Matthew Bizilia, the vocalist of the band, shows once more the capabilities of the singer, and creating one of the strong points of the album. The production is as good as it should be, and the album leaves a good taste. A band that we should expect much more from the in the future.
9/10
